Shape your Space – careers session for sixth form students

As part of an exciting educational outreach programme, designed to inspire and engage the curiosity of young people, we hosted an in person and online informative event exploring potential careers in architecture.

On the 2nd December 2021, senior lecturer Matt Ault and model maker Scott Miller from Manchester School of Architecture, talked to potential undergraduates and sixth formers that are interested in studying architecture at university.

Matt Ault, formerly Associate at Foster + Partners in London, specialises in large, complex, design projects and has worked internationally on high-end projects of all scales, sectors and design stages. Scott studied at the Arts University Bournemouth. Subsequently he worked as a professional modelmaker and now leads the B.15 Modelmaking Workshop at The University of Manchester.

The evening was introduced by Simona Valeriani of the V&A’s Research Institute (VARI), and co-curator of the Shaping Space exhibition.
