Comprises of a model constructed by Fredrik Hellberg for his AA Fifth Year Diploma project ‘The Second Community: Identity Tourism, California City.The project was carried out by Hellberg under AA Diploma Unit 5 tutors Cristina Diaz Moreno, Efren Garcia Grinda and Tyen Masten. ‘The Second Community’ explores identity tourism beyond the virtual space of online gaming, festivals and cosplay, floating above the desert of northeast Los Angeles as a porous mountain avatar. The project was nominated for the RIBA Silver Medal, 2011.This model was exhibited at the AA Diploma Honours Exhibition, September-October, 2011, and loaned to the RIBA President’s Medals Awards exhibition, December 2011 – January 2012. The digital model was created in Rhinoceros 3D 4, using Grasshopper plugin and Autodesk Algor 2012.
